Common questions

Where does the forecast come from?
From MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, through our own server, which caches forecasts so the app opens quickly. Their data is published under
CC BY 4.0. Always Weather is independent and isn’t affiliated with MET Norway or any government.

Why does it only ask for approximate location?
A forecast covers an area of a kilometre or more, so a precise fix wouldn’t change it. The app rounds your position to about a kilometre before it leaves your phone. Location is optional: without it, search for a place instead.

How do I move through the hours?
Drag along the bars at the bottom of the screen (in Paper, along the chart). With TalkBack or VoiceOver on, swipe up or down on the hours control.

Can I change how it looks?
Yes. Settings → Look switches between Sky and Paper at any time. The forecast is the same.

The forecast says “Updated” with an old time.
The app shows the last forecast straight away, even without a signal, then refreshes. If it can’t refresh for a day, it says the forecast may be out of date and offers to try again.

How do I turn off crash reports?
Settings → Crash reports. Reports are anonymous; see the privacy policy.

I bought it on another phone.
Purchases belong to your Google or Apple account. Install it from the same account on the new phone and you won’t pay again. Your settings and saved places return through your phone’s own backup when you restore it on the new phone.
